Walsh and Culkin make the Remparts

Patrick Walsh and Ryan Culkin have made the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. After a great season in Midget AAA as a 15 year old, Walsh was the Remparts first pick, 14th overall, in this year’s draft. Althought he suffered a groin injury prior to the camp, the Remparts wanted Walsh in their roster as soon as they drafted him.

Patrick has always said that he wanted to play in the QMJHL and we are proud to see that all of his efforts have paid off.

The story is different for Ryan Culkin. After a great year with the Midget Espoir Royals, Ryan was the last cut from the Midget AAA Lions last year. He came back to Pro Action Hockey to play on the Varsity team and played Midget AA for Deux-Rives. By the end of the year, Ryan was a regular with the Lions, helping them make it to the finals. The Remparts drafted Culkin in the 7th round, making him the 122nd player to be taken. Ryan played so well during camp and exhibition games that the Rempart’s coach and GM Patrick Roy was forced to trade and release a few veterans to make room for him on the blue line.

We wish Patrick and Ryan all the best and we hope they have a great year in Québec!

Dillon Fournier will play with his brother in Lewiston

Dillon Fournier became the second Sport-Études student after Simon Despres to be selected first overall in the QMJHL draft. Making the Lewinston line-up means that Dillon will be playing with older brother Stefan, also a former Sport-Études student, playing his 3rd year in the league. This should make his transition into the league a lot smoother.

Dillon has always been one of the hardest workers on and off the ice and we are happy that he’s reaching his goals. Good luck this year Dillon!
