Former Pro Action Hockey students make the Midget AAA Lions
![]() |
Congratulations to Kurt Etchegary, David Montgomery and Neil Robinson for making the Midget AAA Lions. Neil is making the jump directly from Bantam AA as a 15 year old, while Kurt is coming off a very strong season with the Midget Espoir Royals. As for David, he played for the Espoir Royals 2 years ago and not having made the AAA Lions last year, he chose not to play minor hockey and focused on training and playing with our Varsity team. |

|
David’s great work ethic throughout the year and in the summer paid off. These three will join Pro Action Alumni’s Michael Matheson, Anthony Cortese and Dylan Trevis who are in their second year with the Lions. |

Walsh and Culkin make the Remparts
![]() |
Patrick Walsh and Ryan Culkin have made the Quebec Remparts of the QMJHL. After a great season in Midget AAA as a 15 year old, Walsh was the Remparts first pick, 14th overall, in this year’s draft. Althought he suffered a groin injury prior to the camp, the Remparts wanted Walsh in their roster as soon as they drafted him. |

Patrick has always said that he wanted to play in the QMJHL and we are proud to see that all of his efforts have paid off. The
story is different for Ryan Culkin. After a great year with the
Midget Espoir Royals, Ryan was the last cut from the Midget AAA
Lions last year. He came back to Pro Action Hockey to play on
the Varsity team and played Midget AA for Deux-Rives. By the end
of the year, Ryan was a regular with the Lions, helping them
make it to the finals. The Remparts drafted Culkin in the 7th
round, making him the 122nd player to be taken. Ryan played so
well during camp and exhibition games that the Rempart’s coach
and GM Patrick Roy was forced to trade and release a few
veterans to make room for him on the blue line. Click here to read a great interview with Patrick |

Dillon Fournier will play with his brother in Lewiston
![]() |
Dillon Fournier became the second Sport-Études student after Simon Despres to be selected first overall in the QMJHL draft. Making the Lewinston line-up means that Dillon will be playing with older brother Stefan, also a former Sport-Études student, playing his 3rd year in the league. This should make his transition into the league a lot smoother. |
|
|
Dillon has always been one of the hardest workers on and off the ice and we are happy that he’s reaching his goals. Good luck this year Dillon! Click here to read a great interview with Dillon in The Hockey News. |

Former Sport Études students
May 4, 2010, 1:45 pm
Since the start of the post-season, many Sport Études
alumni’s are doing great during their respective playoffs.
In the NHL, Jason Demers is seeing a lot of power play time with the Sharks and
contributing to the Sharks Stanley Cup drive.
In the QJMHL, defensemen Mark Barberio and Simon Despres are battling it out in
the finals. Barberio, a 6th round pick by Tampa Bay in 2008, and the Moncton
Wildcats are up 2 games to 0 over Saint John Sea Dogs. Despres, Pittsburgh’s
first pick overall in last year’s draft, hopes to even things up as the series
heads over to Saint John.
We would also like to congratulate Michael Matheson on being named the top prospect by the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Central Scouting (CSR) for the upcoming entry draft, while Dillon Fournier is ranked #8 and Patrick Walsh #24. We wish them all the best for the upcoming draft on June 5th.

Congratulations to Courtney Bolduc on being selected to the team Quebec U18 try-outs. Dave Coughlin, head instructor had this to say about Courtney "She's a great skater and she always works hard on and off the ice". Head girls coach Frank Boyer summed it up when he said "She's a gamer, she shows up to play every day and always brings her "A" game". |
